Tank modification

Fitting instructions

1. Remove cab floor mat.

2. Remove 4 studs across centre of floor and remove 2 floor pans.

3. Remove drag link

4. Remove steering wheel, column switch cover & column switch

5. Remove steering box and column

6. Jack up front n/s of axle enough to take weight off n/s wheel.

7. Remove 4 nuts from underneath kingpin and remove steering arm.

8. Remove 4 studs and replace with 4 new shouldered studs supplied.

9. Fit new (strengthened) steering arm supplied.

10. Drain hydraulic oil from tank.

11. Drill two holes in rear face of tank as per attached drawing.

12. Braze 2 10mm standpipe fittings supplied into tank.

13. Offer up steering unit/mounting plate/column/wheel etc

14. Modify steeelwork & mounting plate and weld plate in position

15. Fit column switch/cover, steering wheel

16. Set wheels in straight ahead position, fit rod end into ram and attach to steering arm.

17. Attach ram/axle mounting plates to ram, set ram in centre of travel, weld plates to axle tube.

18. Jack up front axle and turn to each full lock in turn checking the steering stops are set correctly - The stops should hit just before the ram reaches the end of its travel. They should also not be screwed so far in that the large swivel ball seals go past the edge of the chrome ball.

19. Weld flow divider mounting bracket onto 1" square cross member just in front of engine.

20. Fit flow divider and pipe system up as per attached diagram using pipes supplied.

21. Re-fit floor pan etc.

22. Re-fill hydraulic tank.

23. After starting engine turn steering from full lock to full lock to expell air from ram.

N.B The maximum road speed of 30 mph should not be exceeded

1 1/2" R2T hydraulic hose assy 26", 1 fem st, 1 fem 90

2 1/4" R2T hose assy, 24", 1 fem st, 1 fem 90

1 1/4" R2T hose assy, 36", 1 fem st, 1 fem 90

2 met 3/8" braided return hose

4 000 jubilee clips

2 Weld-in, 10mm, flared tank fittings

1 Flow control mounting bracket

1 Steering unit mounting plate

1 Ram/axle mounting bracket

1 M20 Bolt/nut (steering ram mount)

2 Mounting bolts/nuts - flow valve
